Away on camping trip

Don't worry, I'll be back soon. In the meantime here's a picture.

Gun progress.

Made a bit of progress. I'm a bit busy with sorting out bureaucratic stuff and doing some job interviews and art tests.

Total helmetular remixification!!!!

That's right! That just happened.
Also, butt implants and thigh mass increase. The pouches also got treatment, too.

Compare older style on right

It's my birthday! Sculpt.

Happy birthday, me.

Helmet added with a slight re-design. Now the forehead compartment holds a faceplate that can descend. Also, a little wider and more square ear thing detail. I did the rest of the pouchwork and the side bag. Started on new guns. You can see, it's a new hybrid technique. I hope to incorporate the strength of the armature style with the ease and rapidity of the flat sheet style.

That is all.

planetFallers assemble!

A quick recap: working on three science fiction troopers I call planetFallers. These are 1:56 in scale, which corresponds to what is commonly referred to as 28mm size; the most popular size for miniature wargames.

A lesson I had learned from before is I'm adding pouch preparation masses so their shape will be better defined.
The two first ones got a back plate and the last guy just got the front plate.  You might note there is some weathering scratches and pitting on some of the armor.

Chest carpace x2

Recap- I'm working on a science fiction drop troop miniature in 28mm size - I call them planetFallers, the exact scale is 1:56. The setting is medium near future- no transporters but you fly around space, maybe FTL travel I'm not sure.

Moving on, I added leg straps with a neat little fast buckle to each guy. Two guys got chest armor with shoulder straps and I added cranial mass to the one dude.

Stage 3 complete

There we go. All three now have boots, pants, knee pads, abdomen armor segment, preparation for leg drop pouch, neck garment and face.

I'll need to start on guns soon. I'm trying out some redesigns and I want to come up with something cool that I can do well.

Wednesday, 3 April 2013

I'm up to my knees in knee pads.

Working on a batch of 3 planetFallers (science fiction orbital drop troopers) in the scale of 1:56 (a good fit for most "28mm" sizes). These miniatures are to be part of a set that will be a sort of tactical game or pieces you can use in whatever scenario fits them.

This stage comprises of the pants, abdomen armor sections and then knee pads, neck covering and a lump to serve as supporting structure for the leg drop pouch. I'm about halfway done with this part. The next stage should be the chest plate, back plate and helmet. Likely in 2 or three separate sessions. I also need to make some guns very soon.

Small face update

Another face. Changed the legs position a bit.

Faces. Faces, everyone!

Working on the 1:56 scale science fiction troopers called planetFallers. The sculpting is in Green Stuff or Yellow Blue Kneadatite.

All three have both boots. I cut off and redid the left boot of the first guy. Added faces to two out of three. I also sketched a bit and came up with some nice improvements to the design. I might upload the sketch later.

Comments, questions and criticism welcome.
