A sci-fi gentleman

I sculpted this guy quickly as an attempt to impress a particular company. They were not impressed but I think he came out pretty cool. The scale is 1:52.

The German Emperor in sunlight

What's up?

recap for newcomers: I'm a novice sculptor and professional illustrator learning how to make miniatures because I like table top games and I want to make them. I'm also into making art for other types of games like video games and board games. Check out my portfolio there >>>>

Right now I'm working on a 1:52 scale historical, a 1:35 science fiction figure and other projects not depicted. The work is mainly done in Green Stuff or PSI Kneadatite. If you have any questions or comments go ahead and post them and I'll do my best to answer.

Completed the "28mm" Kaiser Wilhelm II. The scale is actually 1:52 or 32mm total height of a 1.80 meter person. I am really impressed by how the work on the 1:72 guys translated into a marked improvement in the 28mm scale. I must have internalized some important lessons.

I'd like to start more ~28mm characters soon.

The planetFaller got a back armor plate that looks like a grumpy frog, in retrospect. I sculpted a small pouch and started on the rifle and a knife. The gun is a major bottle neck right now for the completion. As I'm working on it I can do some additional gear what with the back plate being on and all.

This is also here, I will showcase them better when finished.

Polishing the little Kaiser's cape*

*is not a euphemism.

Still a little bit to go. Medals, cape improvement. Sharpening the helmet spike*.

I'm working on my Americans for flames of war. Due to an unfortunate priming incident most of them have a rough texture on one side. Maybe someday I'll strip them but for now I'm just going to go ahead and paint them to completion and base them and call it "table top quality".

Kaiser Wilhelm II 1:56 (28mm)

He just needs a little bit more love and he'll be finished. I really want to improve the cape some. Right now it clings to his body somewhat but it'll serve me as a base for adding it in more drapey fashion.

I added the forhead plate/visor compartment to our planetFaller. Look, I'm scared to start sculpting the gun. Alright? I don't want to screw it up so I haven't started yet. I'm also afraid that when I'll finish it will mean I'll need to move forward with the crowdfunding/marketing part; it's daunting to understate things.

planetFallers

Working on the 1:35 Sci Fi prototype. I've been calling them "drop troops" but I don't like the name too much. I mean, it's descriptive but not very interesting. I've been trying to come up with some other names. I like "planetFallers". Maybe there's something more natural, futuristic colloquial; I came up with Magnetic Johnnies for some reason. I'll probably keep searching. If you have any ideas, post them in the comments.

I've also considered the working title "for the Glory of Mars". While it's apt in the deity it refers to I don't know if it's too much cliche. Listening to a Blue Oyster Cult CD I came across the line "...my joke's an iron". I like the sentence structure that makes an abstract concept become a physical object and re-colors it. A joke is one thing, an iron or iron in itself is yet another but when a joke is an iron - there's a whole narrative in that one sentence. "Joke Of Iron" sounds cool and unusual . Maybe a different pair of abstract concept and object.

Anyhow, here's today's crop. Nose improvement, pouch improvement, neck clothed and helmet for the planetFaller. WWI 1:56 gets buttons, decorations, face and helmet. I need to improve the helmet shape a bit.

Face/On

recap: working on a 1:35 design concept for a science fiction drop troop. I've also started on a 1:56 WWI historical character.

Sculpted face, pouches and some armor bits on the drop trooper. Since the face will be surrounded by a helmet he doesn't need a chin or ears. I'm not too sure yet, but the pouches feel a little blobby maybe.

The WWI gets pants and tunic. Because a cape will hide the back and sides I'm not going to make anything there.

Comment and stuff.

Stovepipe riding boots - miniatures love them!

As luck would have it, this WWI 1:56 guy is also wearing this boot style. Anyways, not much to say. Can't work enough, it seems.
A slight design change to the upper part of the armor.

I'll give it a bit of sanding when it cures fully

Looks like boogers

I kinda want boots like that now.
